Michael Buck Threatens Federal Officials, Sentenced to 25 Years, Texas 2023

A Missouri man will spend the next three decades behind bars after threatening a federal judge and a federal law enforcement officer.

Michael Buck, 43, of Missouri, was sentenced to 300 months in federal prison for violating 18 U.S.C. § 115(a)(1)(B) and 18 U.S.C. § 115(a)(2), which prohibit knowingly transmitting in interstate or foreign commerce a threat to kidnap any judge, bankruptcy judge, or law enforcement officer, or to injure the person of such judge, bankruptcy judge, or law enforcement officer.

U.S. District Judge John H. McBryde handed down the sentence after Buck’s guilty plea. The defendant’s lengthy rap sheet and history of violent behavior weighed heavily in the judge’s decision.

Buck’s threats were directed at a federal judge and a federal law enforcement officer, as well as their families. His actions posed a significant risk to the individuals and the community at large.
