A Chicopee man has pleaded guilty to creating and distributing child sexual abuse material, sparking outrage in the local community.
According to court documents, Michael Geoffroy, 36, was found to have used a minor to create two videos and two images of CSAM in December 2020. He then distributed the videos and images in a chat group on the same day.
Geoffroy was arrested the following day and, during a search of his cellphone, was found to be in possession of more than 100 videos and images depicting CSAM.
The defendant pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni scheduled sentencing for June 8, 2023. Geoffroy was indicted by a federal grand jury in January 2021.
United States Attorney Rachael S. Rollins, Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Division, and Chicopee Police Chief Patrick Major made the announcement.
