Nashville Man Sentenced for Cocaine Conspiracy

RALEIGH – A Nashville, North Carolina man has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his role in a cocaine distribution conspiracy.

According to court records, 52-year-old Michael Lee Drake was sentenced by United States District Judge James C. Dever III on [date of sentence]. As part of his sentence, Drake will also serve 8 years of supervised release.

The charges against Drake stem from an indictment filed on April 19, 2018, which accused him of conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine and a quantity of cocaine base (crack).

On June 18, 2018, Drake pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge.

According to the investigation, Drake distributed powder cocaine and cocaine base (crack) throughout Nash and Edgecombe Counties from 2009 to October 29, 2015. In 2015, law enforcement made a controlled purchase of multiple ounces of cocaine from Drake. A search warrant was executed at his home, where officers found powder cocaine, cocaine base (crack), $43,000 in United States currency, and firearms and ammunition.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Nash County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Dena King represented the government in this case.
