Michael P. Jackson, Prescription Drug Conspiracy, Florida 2013

Grimy Times has learned that Michael P. Jackson, a 40-year-old resident of Carmi, Illinois, was recently sentenced to serve 72 months in prison for his role in a prescription drug conspiracy.

According to a recent indictment, Jackson supplied his co-defendant, Lina Rodriguez, with pills of Adderall, a Schedule II controlled substance, from 2009 to 2012. Adderall contains amphetamine, a highly addictive and potent stimulant.

As part of the conspiracy, Rodriguez resold the Adderall pills through an online pharmacy business she operated in southern Florida. Jackson was aware of and intended for the pills to be resold through this business.

This prosecution was led by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, with assistance from the FDA, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, and the FBI. The case was investigated by the Miami Field Office of the FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations.

Jackson’s sentencing took place on March 11, 2013, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He also received a three-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence.

As part of his plea agreement, Jackson agreed not to oppose a judgment against him in the amount of $18,862, which represents the gross proceeds of the offense to which he pleaded guilty.

Lina Rodriguez, Jackson’s co-defendant, was sentenced to 72 months’ imprisonment on April 22, 2013. This case highlights the continued threat of prescription drug trafficking and the efforts of law enforcement to combat it.

The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of the U.S. government to protect its citizens from the dangers of prescription drug abuse.
