Methamphetamine Kingpin Lands 32 Months in Prison

A U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant, Michael Reimers, 41, of Las Vegas, has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine and trafficking firearms without a license.

Reimers, who is not a licensed firearms dealer, sold an AK-47, a .26 caliber handgun, and a 12 gauge shotgun to various buyers between July 11, 2019, and September 4, 2019. He also sold large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine to the same buyers.

Reimers pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of a controlled substance and one count of engaging in the business of dealing in firearms without a license in April 2021.

U.S. District Judge Kent J. Dawson sentenced Reimers to three years of supervised release in addition to the prison term.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, and the Henderson Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shaheen Torgoley prosecuted the case.

Acting U.S. Attorney Christopher Chiou for the District of Nevada and Assistant Special Agent in Charge Daniel Neill for the DEA made the announcement.

Reimers’ crimes have sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting the dangers of methamphetamine trafficking and the consequences of breaking the law.
