Kadar Charged in Threats to Florida’s Jewish Community Centers
Michael Ron David Kadar, an 18-year-old dual U.S. and Israeli citizen, has been charged with making threatening calls to Jewish Community Centers in Florida, conveying false information to police dispatch, and cyberstalking, according to a federal criminal complaint filed in Orlando, Florida.
Between January 4, 2017, and March 7, 2017, Kadar allegedly made multiple threatening calls involving bomb threats and active shooter threats to several Jewish Community Centers throughout Florida. These threats resulted in the temporary closure and evacuation or lockdown of the targeted facilities, as well as the response of law enforcement and emergency personnel.
Additionally, a federal criminal complaint filed in Macon, Georgia, alleges that Kadar made a phone call to a police department on January 3, 2017, conveying false information about a violent emergency situation concerning multiple individuals at a private residence in Athens, Georgia. This false information caused police and emergency personnel to respond to the scene, only to find no emergency.
‘Today’s charges into these violent threats to Jewish Community Centers and others represent our commitment to fighting all forms of violent crime,’ said Attorney General Sessions. ‘These threats of violence instilled terror in Jewish and other communities across this country, and our investigation into these acts as possible hate crimes continues.’
Michael Ron David Kadar, dual U.S. and Israeli citizen, was recently arrested in Israel.
