Colchester Man Caught in Machinegun Sting
Colchester, CT – In a shocking turn of events, 27-year-old Michael Sheridan of Colchester, Connecticut, pleaded guilty to possessing a machinegun on January 29, 2021.
According to court documents and statements made in court, Sheridan agreed with an associate who had manufactured a machinegun to deliver it to another individual who had purchased it. On January 29, 2021, Sheridan transferred the machinegun to the purchaser in a parking lot in Cromwell.
The crime carries a maximum term of imprisonment of 10 years. Sheridan is currently scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Vanessa L. Bryant in Hartford on November 10, 2021.
This case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with the assistance of the Penobscot County (Maine) Sheriff’s Office. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Margaret Donovan.
