Madisonville Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Federal Prison for Methamphetamine Trafficking

A Madisonville, Kentucky man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for possessing over 50 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it.

On July 22, 2025, Michael Skinner, 65, was handed down the 10-year sentence by a federal court in Paducah, Kentucky. Skinner admitted in his plea agreement that he was stopped by law enforcement on August 3, 2024, based on excessive window tinting.

A K-9 subsequently alerted to the presence of narcotics coming from the vehicle, resulting in the discovery of 80.77 grams of methamphetamine hidden under the hood of the vehicle. Skinner admitted to distributing methamphetamine and to frequent prior drug distribution.

As a result of his conduct and his criminal history, the Court imposed a sentence of 10 years in federal prison followed by 5 years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case was investigated by the DEA Paducah Post of Duty and the Madisonville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Leigh Ann Dycus, of the U.S. Attorney’s Paducah Branch Office, prosecuted the case.
