Michigan Man Jailed for 20 Years in Child Sex Abuse Case

MIAMI – A chilling chapter in the fight against child exploitation has closed as Ahmed Sultan Faraz, a 30-year-old from Farmington, Michigan, was sentenced to 240 months in federal prison for conspiring to distribute and distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks imposed the sentence on September 10th, marking a significant victory in the ongoing battle against online predators. According to court records, Faraz and five co-conspirators operated in a private chat room on a social networking platform, where participants were required to distribute CSAM of children under 13 years old.

The images and videos involved children as young as four, with Faraz engaging in discussions about the sexual abuse of minors with over 50 individuals. A post-Miranda interview revealed that Faraz communicated online with five or six minors, producing CSAM with at least two and attempting to produce it with a third.

In addition to his federal sentence, Faraz’s application to become a lawful permanent resident of the United States was denied in 2024. This case was investigated by HSI West Palm Beach and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as part of the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexandra Chase prosecuted the case.

U.S. Attorney Jason A. Reding Quiñones, Acting Special Agent in Charge José R. Figueroa of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Miami, and Sheriff Ric Bradshaw of the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced the sentencing, emphasizing the collaborative efforts involved in bringing Faraz to justice.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
