MONTGOMERY, AL – Fifteen individuals are off the streets following a massive drug raid in central Alabama, culminating in the seizure of over a pound of “ice” methamphetamine, a staggering arsenal of over 30 firearms, nearly $13,000 in cold, hard cash, and multiple vehicles used in the distribution network. The operation, a joint effort between federal, state, and local law enforcement, ripped through Montgomery, Deatsville, and Elmore County this week.
Federal charges have been filed against six suspects accused of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Leading the list is Mark “Mighty Whitey” Elliott, 50, of Deatsville, identified in a search warrant affidavit as a captain within the notoriously violent Aryan Brotherhood. Also federally charged are William “Bill” Elliott, 57, of Deatsville; Wendell “Cain” Gaskin, 40, of Deatsville; Willie C. Moody, 64, of Montgomery; William Christopher Moody, 36, of Montgomery; and Mark Allen Vinson, 43, of Elmore. Elliott, Bill Elliott, Gaskin, and Vinson are being held without bond pending trial. Willie C. Moody and Christopher Moody were granted bond while awaiting court proceedings.
Nine additional suspects face state charges related to drug offenses. Brandon Fuller, of Wetumpka, was arrested for unlawful possession of a controlled substance and given a $5,000 bond. Faye Diane Allen, also of Wetumpka, faces three counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance with a $30,000 bond. Bobby Roten of Millbrook is similarly charged with three counts of unlawful distribution, also with a $30,000 bond. Paul Bryant, of Montgomery, is facing two counts of unlawful distribution with a $20,000 bond. The stakes escalate with Caleb Elliott, of Deatsville, charged with trafficking methamphetamine and assigned a hefty $1,000,000 bond.
The state-level arrests continued with Brandon Horton, of Wetumpka, arrested for two counts of unlawful distribution, and given a $20,000 bond; Lindsey Lawrence, of Deatsville, arrested for trafficking of methamphetamine, and given a $250,000 bond; Haley Dallas Hamrac, of Deatsville, arrested for trafficking of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, and given a $1,500,000 bond; and Michael Lee Smith of Atmore, arrested for trafficking of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of controlled substance, and unlawful possession drug paraphernalia, and given a $515,000 bond. The sheer volume of charges and bond amounts underscores the seriousness of the alleged offenses.
Law enforcement executed five federal search warrants – two in Montgomery, two in the Deatsville area of Autauga County, and one in the Central community of Elmore County. These searches yielded not only the methamphetamine and firearms but also evidence suggesting a sophisticated drug operation, including packaging materials and other paraphernalia. Disturbingly, authorities also revealed that several individuals involved allegedly used violence, threats, and intimidation to facilitate drug deals and collect debts. Elliott’s tattoos – Swastikas, “White Power,” and SS lightning bolts – are further evidence of his deep connection to the Aryan Brotherhood, a white supremacist prison gang known for its brutality.
“This investigation highlights the importance of our law enforcement partnerships,” stated Clay X. Morris, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration. “Without the combined efforts of the law enforcement agencies involvement in the investigation, this organization would have continued to distribute pound quantities of methamphetamine throughout central Alabama. This investigation should send a clear and resounding message that we will not allow our communities to be poisoned by drugs or hate.” ATF Special Agent in Charge Jeff Fulton added, “This investigation is more evidence that ATF’s commitment to combating violent crime is unwavering. We will utilize every resource to make our communities safer places to live.” The investigation remains ongoing, and further arrests are possible.
