Gulfport Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Armed Robbery

Gulfport, MS – On February 23, 2024, Milki Ibrahim, an Ethiopian national, committed an armed robbery at a local supermarket in Gulfport, Mississippi.

During the robbery, Milki Ibrahim walked into the supermarket, pulled out a black handgun, and demanded that the employee behind the cash register hand over $1200. The employee complied, and Milki Ibrahim threatened to kill the people in the store if they went to the police.

The employees of the store were able to positively identify Milki Ibrahim as the armed robber. A subsequent review of Milki Ibrahim’s cellphone showed that he took pictures of himself wearing the same clothes that were worn during the robbery just one day prior. Those same clothes were found in Milki Ibrahim’s residence along with a firearm that matched the description of the one used in the robbery.

In December 2024, Milki Ibrahim pled guilty to the charge of armed robbery. Acting U.S. Attorney Patrick A. Lemon of the Southern District of Mississippi and Special Agent in Charge Robert Eikhoff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation made the announcement.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Gulfport Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative to combat violent crime. Milki Ibrahim was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in the armed robbery.
