MILLS Indicted for Armed Robbery in New Orleans

New ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – In a shock to the local community, Jeremiah Mills (“MILLS”), 28, was hit with a four-count indictment on August 28, 2025, for an armed Hobbs Act robbery that left residents on edge.

According to the United States Attorney’s Office, Mills is accused of committing the crime at a gas station located in the 2700 block of S. Claiborne Avenue. On July 17, 2025, it was alleged that Mills, armed and dangerous, used a firearm during the robbery. His brazen attempt to return three days later on July 20 only fueled concerns about his intent.

Acting United States Attorney Michael M. Simpson noted, ‘The indictment is merely a charge, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.’ However, if convicted on all counts, Mills faces up to 40 years in prison and fines totaling $1 million, not to mention a mandatory special assessment fee of $100.

The charges against Mills include Hobbs Act Robbery, Discharging a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence, Attempted Hobbs Act Robbery, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm. Each count carries its own set of severe penalties, with the most serious charge under the Hobbs Act carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protecting communities from violent crime. The investigation was carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crime Task Force, with prosecution handled by Assistant United States Attorney Troy L. Bell of the Violent Crimes Unit.

As the city holds its breath, Mills’ case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by violent crime and the tireless efforts of law enforcement to keep communities safe.
