Kansas City, MO, resident Milton Charles Wilson, also known as ‘Barbwire,’ 59, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison without parole for transporting an individual across state lines for prostitution, according to federal authorities.
Wilson, who was identified by his alias in the indictment, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner on April 1, 2015. His co-defendant, Kayla Pinkerton, also known as ‘Foxy,’ 20, of Lee’s Summit, Mo., pleaded guilty to the same crime on the same day and was subsequently sentenced to 16 months in prison on July 27, 2015.
According to court documents, Wilson and Pinkerton transported an individual to various locations in Missouri and Kansas, including at least two trips to Overland Park, Kan., for the purpose of prostitution. Wilson admitted to advertising the victim for prostitution on Backpage.com and paying for a hotel room at the American Inn in North Kansas City, Mo.
The case was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department, the FBI, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick D. Daly prosecuted the case. Wilson’s sentence serves as a reminder of the harsh consequences for those involved in human trafficking.
The sentencing of Wilson and Pinkerton brings an end to a case that highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat human trafficking in the region.
