Assault on Domestic Partner Lands Mission Man 38 Months in Prison
A 36-year-old Mission man was sentenced to 38 months in prison for assaulting his domestic partner, causing her bodily injury.
Willard Dorian, 36, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on March 25, 2013, according to the U.S. Attorney for the District of South Dakota.
The conviction stems from an incident that took place on July 3, 2011, when Dorian allegedly assaulted his domestic partner, causing her bodily injury.
Dorian was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 12, 2012, and pled guilty to the charge on January 7, 2013.
The investigation was conducted by the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with the case being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie H. Ruettgers.
In addition to his prison sentence, Dorian was also ordered to serve two years of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund.
Dorian was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal following the sentencing hearing.
