SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The federal judiciary has hit ‘DrFrosty,’ Omar Isho, 37, of Modesto, with a five-count indictment for distributing methamphetamine on darknet marketplaces. The U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced the charges against Isho this week.
Isho, operating under the alias ‘DrFrosty,’ allegedly sold the illegal substance through online platforms like Dream Market, Empire Market, and Silk Road 3.1. According to court documents, federal agents executed undercover purchases from his accounts, leading to the uncovering of Isho’s involvement.
Surveillance and postal records tied Isho to packages containing methamphetamine discreetly concealed in jigsaw puzzle boxes. This operation was a collaborative effort by the Northern California Illicit Digital Economy (NCIDE) Task Force, a multiagency group that includes agents from the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, FBI, and DEA.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Quinn Hochhalter is spearheading the prosecution of Isho, who if convicted could face up to 40 years in federal prison and a $5 million fine. However, any sentence would be decided by the court based on applicable factors and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
The charges against Isho are merely allegations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, as per standard legal proceedings.
This case underscores the ongoing battle against cybercrime and its impact on drug trafficking, highlighting the importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts in combating such threats.
