Moises Elias Saavedra Posadas, Methamphetamine Trafficking, Texas 2025

A Texas man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his role in a large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operation in Dallas.

Mosies Elias Saavedra Posadas, 45, a Mexican national illegally living in the United States, was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in federal prison by United States District Judge David C. Godbey.

Saavedra Posadas pled guilty to methamphetamine possession with intent to distribute in February 2025. He was arrested in connection with codefendant Gerardo Barraza Ortiz, who was sentenced to 262 months’ imprisonment in March 2025 for his role in the operation.

According to court documents, Saavedra Posadas and Barraza Ortiz delivered more than 4 grams of 100% pure methamphetamine on two separate occasions. The deliveries were part of a larger operation that netted approximately 48.66 kilograms (107.05 pounds) of crystalized methamphetamine.

The majority of the methamphetamine was located in 1,022 small packages hidden in buckets and pallets at an auto body shop on South Cockrell Hill Road in Dallas. A further search of the premises revealed a freezer, burners, coolers, storage bins, and barrels that were being used to store, cook, and convert liquid methamphetamine into a crystalized form.

The street value of the 48.66 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine is approximately $3,128,400.00 in the Dallas, Texas area. The investigation was conducted by the Duncanville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys George Leal and Sarah Douglas prosecuting the case.

Saavedra Posadas’ sentencing comes as part of a larger effort to disrupt and dismantle large-scale methamphetamine trafficking operations in the region. The case serves as a reminder of the devastating impact that methamphetamine trafficking has on communities and the importance of continued law enforcement efforts to combat this threat.

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about methamphetamine trafficking in the Dallas area to come forward.
