A 28-year-old Long Beach man, Wrackkie Quiogue, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for possessing a Molotov cocktail during an anti-ICE protest in downtown Los Angeles on June 8, 2025. The protest turned violent when members of the crowd threw rocks and bottles at law enforcement officials, prompting the LAPD to declare an unlawful assembly. Quiogue was spotted by a police officer holding a glass bottle containing a flammable liquid and a source of ignition, leading to a pursuit and his eventual arrest.
Quiogue pleaded guilty in November 2025 to one count of possession of an unregistered destructive device. He has been in federal custody since June 2025. The case highlights the violent actions of some individuals during the protest, which was meant to be a peaceful exercise of First Amendment rights.
The incident occurred during a series of immigration enforcement operations conducted by federal law enforcement officials throughout the greater Los Angeles area. While many protestors peacefuly exercised their rights, some engaged in violent actions to obstruct or injure law enforcement officers.
Quiogue’s sentence serves as a reminder of the consequences of possessing and attempting to use destructive devices. The case was investigated by federal law enforcement officials, including the FBI and LAPD.
