In a swift verdict, Chief United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak found Tyler Mucci guilty of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute cocaine in the Mon Valley area. The conviction stems from a 14-month long investigation into Mucci’s involvement in the cocaine trade.

Mucci, 33, of Monongahela, PA 15063, was tried in front of Judge Hornak in the Western District of Pennsylvania. Assistant United States Attorney Shaun E. Sweeney, who led the prosecution, presented evidence that showed Mucci conspired with other individuals to distribute a significant quantity of cocaine between March 2017 and December 2017.

According to court records, Mucci was one of the lower-level participants in the conspiracy, working under a larger operation. The investigation and subsequent prosecution were a joint effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police.

The law provides for a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison, a fine of $2,000,000, or both. However, the actual sentence will depend on the seriousness of the offense and Mucci’s prior criminal history, if any.

Mucci remains free on bond pending sentencing. The court has not set a date for the hearing at this time.
