A Pittsburgh resident has been handed a significant prison sentence for violating federal firearms laws. Morisee Williams, 41, of the Knoxville neighborhood of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to 70 months of imprisonment for possessing multiple firearms and ammunition as a previously convicted felon.
According to information presented to the Court, in May 2024, the FBI executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence and recovered four firearms, two of which were stolen. Additionally, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, approximately seven ammunition magazines, and a firearm mount and rifle grip were found. As a previously convicted felon, Williams is prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
United States District Judge Marilyn J. Horan imposed the sentence on Williams, who was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Katherine C. Jordan and Kelly M. Locher. Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Williams.
The investigation was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) investigation, which aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten the United States. This prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach leverages the strengths of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies against criminal networks.
Williams’ sentencing serves as a reminder of the severity of federal firearms laws and the consequences of violating them. As a previously convicted felon, Williams was well aware of the prohibitions against possessing firearms and ammunition, yet chose to disregard these laws. The significant prison sentence handed down in this case reflects the seriousness with which federal authorities take such offenses.
The successful prosecution of Morisee Williams is a testament to the collaborative efforts of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in combating organized crime and violent offenses. By working together and sharing resources, these agencies can effectively disrupt and dismantle criminal networks, making communities safer for all residents. In this case, the FBI’s thorough investigation and the prosecution team’s diligent efforts ensured that justice was served and a potentially dangerous individual was held accountable for his actions.
