Alexi Saenz, Multiple Murders, New York 2024

Today, in a grim ceremony at the federal court in Central Islip, New York, the ruthless leader of MS-13’s Brentwood/Central Islip chapter, Alexi Saenz, also known as ‘Blasty’ and ‘Plaky,’ received a 68-year sentence for his involvement in a string of chilling murders. The sentence was handed down by United States District Judge Gary R. Brown.

Saenz’s reign of terror began on July 10, 2024, when he pleaded guilty to racketeering charges for his part in eight murders committed between 2016 and 2017, as well as three attempted murders, arson, narcotics trafficking, and firearms offenses.

United States Attorney Joseph Nocella Jr., Assistant Director Christopher G. Raia of the FBI New York Field Office, and Commissioner Kevin Catalina of the Suffolk County Police Department (SCPD) joined forces to announce the sentence. ‘Alexi Saenz led an unspeakable reign of terror that damaged his community and cost several people their lives,’ Nocella said.

FBI Assistant Director Raia emphasized the organization’s commitment to eradicating gang violence, stating, ‘For years, Alexi Saenz wielded his role as a local MS-13 leader to facilitate and participate in eight brutal murders of perceived rivals. Today’s sentencing underscores our relentless determination to crush all gang violence plaguing our communities.’

Commissioner Catalina echoed the sentiment: ‘Alexi Saenz is a violent career criminal whose path of destruction ripped apart families and terrorized Suffolk County with his MS-13 cohorts. I commend the efforts of SCPD officers and our law enforcement partners who are dedicated to bringing violent gang criminals to justice.’

The detailed charges against Saenz included the January 28, 2016, murder of Michael Johnson at the Jocorena Deli in Brentwood. After identifying Johnson as a member of a rival gang, Saenz and his associates ambushed him with weapons, including a machete and a baseball bat.
