A sinister plot to exploit and harm young girls has come to an end with the sentencing of Mubasher Riaz, 41, of Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Riaz was sentenced to 188 months in prison after pleading guilty to charges of coercion and enticement of a minor.
The charges stem from Riaz’s actions in July 2023, when he messaged a 13-year-old girl on Snapchat, eventually requesting and receiving nude images from her.
Further investigation revealed that Riaz had communicated with numerous other individuals on Snapchat who identified themselves as minors, some as young as 11 years old.
One of these minors, a 13-year-old girl, was contacted by Riaz and eventually engaged in sexual activity with him in his parked car.
Riaz offered both minors tobacco and other items in exchange for sex acts.
As part of his sentence, Riaz will be required to pay $150,000 in restitution to his minor victims.
‘This defendant preyed in the most disgusting ways on vulnerable girls as young as 11 years old. Those are the actions of an evil man. And we will do everything in our power to prosecute fiends who prowl around pursuing our children,’ said U.S. Attorney Jerome F. Gorgon, Jr.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Zachary Zurek.
