BUFFALO, N.Y. – Timothy Myers, 35, of Freehold, New Jersey, has admitted to a depraved scheme involving the production of child pornography and relentless cyberstalking of vulnerable teenage girls. U.S. Attorney James P. Kennedy, Jr. announced Myers’ guilty plea before Chief U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr., today, bringing a chilling case to a critical juncture.
Between December 2016 and August 2017, Myers preyed on five minor girls residing in the Western District of New York, operating under the aliases “CJ Mikowski” and “Colin James” on Facebook. He deliberately presented himself as a peer – a boy close in age – to gain their trust. The investigation, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly, revealed a calculated effort to manipulate these girls into sending sexually explicit images of themselves. The ages of the victims ranged from 13 to 16 years old.
The depravity didn’t stop at online coercion. Myers transported one victim from New York State to New Jersey where he engaged in sexual intercourse with her. He then compounded the abuse by distributing sexually explicit images of this victim across Facebook, furthering her exploitation. This wasn’t an isolated incident. The pattern of manipulation and distribution was repeated, inflicting lasting trauma on these young women.
From March to August 2017, Myers continued his predatory behavior, focusing on one victim he’d convinced she was in a relationship with him. When she refused to send additional explicit images, he escalated to threats, promising to disseminate previously obtained photos. This sustained harassment caused significant emotional distress. Three other victims were similarly targeted, lured into false relationships and threatened with the release of compromising images if they didn’t comply with his demands. The emotional toll on these girls is immeasurable.
The investigation, a joint effort by the New York State Police, under the direction of Major James Hall, and Homeland Security Investigations, led by Special Agent-in-Charge Kevin Kelly, painstakingly pieced together Myers’ network of deceit and abuse. The evidence presented clearly demonstrated a pattern of predatory behavior designed to exploit and traumatize vulnerable minors.
Myers now faces a grim reckoning. The charges carry a minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum of 35 years, and a $250,000 fine. Sentencing is scheduled for December 17, 2020, before Judge Geraci. While prison time won’t undo the harm he’s caused, it may prevent Myers from inflicting further suffering on others.
