Myron Chevelle Hart, Violent Drug Trafficking, LA 2023

BATON ROUGE, LA – In a gritty victory for law enforcement, Myron Chevelle Hart, 39, of Baker, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 262 months (21 years) in prison following his conviction on federal drug and firearm charges. The sentence stems from Operation Third World, an intensive investigation by the Middle District Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking Task Force (OCDETF) targeting a notorious drug network.

Hart’s sentence includes an additional 48 months for violating the terms of his federal supervised release after convictions in 2007. He will serve his time without parole due to the abolition of parole by the federal system.

The indictment against Hart and 38 others charged him with significant drug trafficking, racketeering, firearms, and conspiracy offenses. Charges included a murder plot, threats of violence, and using a child in drug transport. To date, 34 defendants have been convicted, one has died, and four remain to be tried.

Hart admitted guilt on November 10, 2016, admitting his role in conspiring with Kelly D. Williams, Charles C. London, C’Prien Nicholas, Sylvester Smith, Artey Foulcard, and others to distribute cocaine and crack cocaine for profit in Baton Rouge. As an enforcer, Hart used violence and threats to secure the organization’s goals.

Previous sentences from Operation Third World include Charles C. London receiving 26.6 years, Sylvester S. Smith getting 18 years, Donald Sanders, Jr., 7 years, Derrick D. Hilliard, 5 years, Willie C. Lewis, 9 years, Sekari Davis Washington, 1 year, Clarence White, 4.5 years, Vernon A. Powell, 8 years, Devon D. Foster, 9 years, and Eric O’Neal Selders, 13.75 years.

The investigation also yielded significant seizures, including cocaine, firearms, and cash, totaling over $150,000 in drug proceeds.
