SCRANTON – A local man was sentenced to 24 months in prison for heroin trafficking near a high school. Naajeh Torres, 24, of East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge A. Richard Caputo on December 21, 2017.
Torres pleaded guilty on October 25, 2017, to charges of distributing heroin within 1,000 feet of Stroudsburg High School property in April 2016. Additionally, he admitted to distributing between 40 and 60 grams of heroin over a three-month period in 2016, which is the equivalent of between 1,600 and 2,400 individual doses.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Stroud Area Regional Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean A. Camoni was prosecuting the case.
The heroin trafficking case was brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide epidemic of heroin use and distribution.
