Nathalia Carolina Rosado, Interfering with Security Screening Personnel, Puerto Rico 2022

Nathalia Carolina Rosado, a passenger attempting to board a Spirit Airlines flight, was arrested on January 4, 2023, for allegedly interfering with security screening personnel at the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in Puerto Rico.

According to a federal indictment, on November 24, 2022, Rosado assaulted two federal airport and air carrier employees who had security duties within the airport. The indictment alleges that she attempted to force her way into the jet bridge after being removed from the plane.

The incident put the federal employees at risk and lessened their ability to control access to the aircraft jet bridge, potentially allowing an unauthorized person to enter the secured area.

“Incidents like this are unacceptable and dangerous because they not only put the federal employees at risk, but all of the people at the airport, employees and travelers,” said W. Stephen Muldrow, United States Attorney for the District of Puerto Rico.

Rosado is charged with Interfering with Security Screening Personnel, a federal offense that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The FBI is investigating the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel J. Olinghouse is prosecuting the case. An indictment is merely an allegation, and Rosado is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Rosado’s case serves as a reminder of the importance of airport security and the consequences of attempting to interfere with it. The FBI and other law enforcement agencies will remain vigilant in their efforts to prevent such incidents and bring those responsible to justice.
