Elbert Llorrens, 31, of New Haven, has been charged with violating federal law by possessing a firearm after being convicted of a felony.
In a move that has sent shockwaves through the community, a federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment charging Llorrens with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. This is a clear breach of trust for the people of New Haven, and we will not stand idly by as felons flaunt the law.
According to the indictment, on March 1, 2024, Llorrens was found to be in possession of a loaded Smith & Wesson, model SD40 VE, .40 caliber pistol. The firearm had been moved in interstate or foreign commerce, making it a federal offense for a person previously convicted of a felony to possess it.
