MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – Nika Daniel Alexander, 20, of Muskogee, Oklahoma, is facing seven years in federal prison after admitting to a brutal robbery where he terrorized a victim with a shotgun. Alexander was sentenced Friday to 84 months – a non-parolable term – for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

The case, investigated by the Muskogee Police Department, the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, details a brazen attack. On October 21, 2021, Alexander pleaded guilty to one count of Use, Carry, and Brandish of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence. Court records reveal Alexander didn’t just rob the victim; he physically assaulted him before holding the shotgun to his head and stealing his wallet, necklace, and cell phone.

Federal prosecutors took the lead on this case due to a specific jurisdictional factor. Alexander is a member of a federally recognized Indian tribe, and the crime occurred within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation in Muskogee County, placing it under the purview of the Eastern District of Oklahoma’s U.S. Attorney’s Office.
