Ohio Attorney General’s Office Announces Fraud Charges Against Nine Medicaid Providers and One Client

On March 29, 2023, the Ohio Attorney General’s Office announced that nine Medicaid providers and one client are facing fraud charges. The charges stem from allegations of Medicaid fraud and other crimes.

The defendants include:

• Eight Medicaid providers, who allegedly submitted false claims to the Ohio Medicaid program between 2018 and 2022.
• One client, who allegedly received Medicaid benefits while working and earning income.

The charges include:

• Aggravated theft in the first degree.
• Aggravated theft in the second degree.
• Medicaid fraud.
• Obtaining money under false pretenses.

The investigation was conducted by the Ohio Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, with assistance from the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation and the Ohio Department of Medicaid.
