PITTSBURGH – In a shocking turn of events, convicted drug dealer Noah Landfried, 38, of Moon Township, Allegheny County, has been sentenced to 330 months in prison for committing drug trafficking and money laundering crimes while on federal supervised release from a prior prison sentence for international marijuana trafficking. This sentence is a combination of 300 months for the drug trafficking and money laundering convictions and 30 months for the supervised release violation. Landfried was also ordered to serve ten years of supervised release following his prison sentence.
The crimes were committed in 2017 and 2018, with Landfried using tractor-trailer shipments to transport kilograms of cocaine across the U.S./Mexico border. In addition to the cocaine, he distributed thousands of oxycodone pills and large quantities of fentanyl and heroin. The case was brought to light after Landfried was caught re-establishing a direct connection to a Mexican source of supply following his early release from prison in 2017.
Landfried’s prior sentence was retroactively reduced by nearly 200 months due to an across-the-board reduction of the sentencing guidelines for convicted federal drug dealers. However, this did not deter him from continuing his illicit activities, and he was eventually convicted on three counts: conspiracy to distribute a Schedule I or II controlled substance, including at least 5 kilograms of cocaine, between 40 and 400 grams of fentanyl, and between 100 and 1,000 grams of heroin, conspiracy to launder drug trafficking proceeds, and possession with intent to distribute at least 40 grams of fentanyl.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Rebecca L. Silinski and Craig W. Haller on behalf of the United States. The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation, the federal Bureau of Prisons, and the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, with assistance from numerous other law enforcement agencies.
This prosecution is a result of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation, which uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to identify, disrupt, and dismantle high-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs, and transnational criminal organizations that threaten communities throughout the United States.
Noah Landfried’s case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of drug trafficking and the importance of continued efforts to combat this epidemic. The sentencing of Landfried to 27.5 years in prison sends a strong message that those who engage in such activities will face severe consequences.
