Convicted Felon Sentenced to Over 3 Years in Prison for Possessing Firearms
NOLAN CASON, a 26-year-old from New Orleans, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for felon in possession of a firearm. The convicted felon was prohibited from possessing firearms due to a previous conviction of possession of cocaine in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
CASON was arrested on August 8, 2014, by the New Orleans Police Department for possessing a semi-automatic firearm with an attached extended magazine containing 20 live rounds. He was later arrested on May 3, 2015, by Louisiana State Police Troopers for possessing two semi-automatic handguns, a 50-round magazine containing 22 live bullets, and a 30-round magazine containing 24 live bullets.
U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon sentenced CASON to 41 months of confinement, 3 years of supervised release, and a mandatory special assessment of $100. This sentence is a direct result of the hard work and dedication of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the New Orleans Police Department, and the Louisiana State Police.
