Nolan Sentenced for Felon in Possession of Firearm

A Henrico County man is headed to the slammer for a lengthy stint after being convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Michael Anthony Nolan, 35, was sentenced to five years and three months in prison by U.S. District Judge Roderick C. Young for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The incident occurred on August 15, 2024, at an apartment complex in Henrico County where Nolan was arguing with his ex-girlfriend.

Henrico County Police responded to a report of gunshots at the complex and upon arrival, found Nolan standing in the parking lot next to a vehicle with a handgun on the floorboard.

Nolan’s past convictions caught up with him when he was found guilty of robbing and attempting to rob pizza delivery drivers with a knife in 2010, and subsequently found guilty of two felony probation violations.

As a previously convicted felon, Nolan is barred from legally possessing firearms or ammunition, making his actions a clear violation of federal law.

U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert, ATF Special Agent in Charge Anthony A. Spotswood, and Henrico County Police Chief Eric D. English made the announcement following Nolan’s sentencing.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick J. McGorman prosecuted the case, which is a stark reminder that those with a history of violence will be held accountable for their actions.
