NY Predator Brown Indicted in CT Child Exploitation Case

NEW HAVEN, CT – Nicolas Brown, 28, of New York, New York, is facing federal charges after a disturbing case of alleged exploitation of vulnerable teenagers came to light. A federal grand jury in New Haven returned an indictment today, accusing Brown, also known as “Breezy,” of multiple counts of child exploitation.

According to court documents, Brown allegedly used ride-sharing services – specifically Uber – to transport one to three teenage girls, two of whom were under 18, from a Connecticut state-run group home. These trips weren’t for safe harbor. Brown allegedly arranged meetings at Connecticut hotels and shopping malls where he engaged in explicit sexual conduct with at least one of the minor victims. The exploitation wasn’t confined to Connecticut; on one occasion, Brown allegedly took two minors on a trip to Manhattan and then to a hotel in South Hackensack, New Jersey, where they remained for several days.

The alleged crimes reached a head on March 20, 2024, when Brown was apprehended at a Danbury hotel on state charges. A subsequent search of his iPhone revealed a horrifying trove of evidence: videos depicting child sex abuse, including footage of Brown himself engaging in sexually explicit acts with a minor victim. This discovery solidified the federal investigation and led to the indictment handed down today.

The indictment charges Brown with production of child pornography, a serious offense carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of 30 years. He also faces charges of possessing and accessing child pornography with intent to view, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years. U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery was quick to point out that an indictment is not proof of guilt, and Brown is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation is a collaborative effort between the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the West Hartford Police Department, the Danbury Police Department, and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher Lembo is prosecuting the case. Brown remains in state custody pending further proceedings.

This prosecution falls under the umbrella of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Project Safe Childhood Initiative, a nationwide program dedicated to protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
