SAN FRANCISCO – Dixis Archaga-Reyes, 27, of Oakland, is headed to federal prison for four years after admitting to flooding San Francisco’s notoriously troubled Tenderloin District with fentanyl and methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down today by Senior U.S. District Judge Charles R. Breyer, following a guilty plea entered on September 21, 2022.
Archaga-Reyes, also known as “Pepe,” wasn’t pushing dime bags on street corners. The feds say he was a key link in the supply chain, dealing in ounces of the deadly duo. According to court documents, he conducted multiple transactions with an undercover officer from a joint DEA and San Francisco Police Department task force. The deals went down in December 2021 and February 2022, right in the heart of the Tenderloin.
The first transaction, on December 22, 2021, saw Archaga-Reyes allegedly agreeing to sell two ounces of fentanyl for $1,000 and two ounces of methamphetamine for $500. The meet, orchestrated via text message, took place near 7th and Mission Streets. He reportedly met the officer, accepted $1,500 in cash, and handed over approximately 61.1 grams of fentanyl and 59 grams of methamphetamine. A classic drug deal, meticulously documented by law enforcement.
But it wasn’t just a single exchange. On February 17, 2022, Archaga-Reyes attempted to repeat the process. This time, however, he was intercepted. As he left his Oakland apartment with over 500 grams of methamphetamine, agents moved in and arrested him. A subsequent search of his vehicle turned up another 90.5 grams of fentanyl, and a search of his apartment revealed over 130 grams of fentanyl, more than 37 grams of cocaine, and $2,759 in cash – allegedly the profits from his illicit trade.
Archaga-Reyes faced a four-count indictment, charging him with possession with intent to distribute and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl, violations of 21 U.S.C. § 841. He pleaded guilty to all charges. U.S. Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds and DEA Acting Special Agent in Charge Bob P. Beris announced the sentencing, emphasizing the ongoing federal effort to dismantle drug trafficking networks preying on vulnerable communities.
Judge Breyer didn’t just hand down a prison sentence. Archaga-Reyes will also serve four years of supervised release after he’s released. With credit for time already served, he’ll begin his 48-month term immediately. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Andrew Paulson, Soana Katoa, Leeya Kekona, and Mark DiCenzo secured the conviction and sentencing, proving that pushing poison in the Tenderloin – or anywhere else – carries serious consequences.
