Randy Quinn, Child Pornography Distribution, South Carolina 2023

A South Carolina man has been sentenced to over 5 years in federal prison for his role in distributing child pornography. Randy Quinn, 31, of Westminster, was found guilty of possessing large quantities of the illicit material.

In a shocking discovery, investigators found over 10,000 images of child pornography on Quinn’s devices, including a Samsung tablet and his cell phone. The images, which included videos and still images, were recovered during a search warrant executed at Quinn’s house.

The case began with an undercover operation involving a file-sharing network used by individuals with an interest in child pornography. An undercover officer downloaded child pornography that Quinn was sharing, leading to a thorough investigation by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

Assistant United States Attorney Bill Watkins of the Greenville office prosecuted the case, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

United States District Judge J. Michelle Childs of Columbia sentenced Quinn to 68 months in federal prison, followed by lifetime court-ordered supervision. According to the federal system, there is no parole option for Quinn.

The sentencing marks a significant victory for law enforcement and child protection advocates, who have been working tirelessly to combat the growing threat of child exploitation online.

As part of the project, law enforcement agencies and prosecutors work together to identify and rescue victims, as well as locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet. For more information on Project Safe Childhood, visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
