Akron’s Tyler J. Lilley, 33, and Louisville’s Tyler J. Bell, 31, are facing federal charges for a major marijuana conspiracy, according to the Northern District of Ohio’s United States Attorney Steven M. Dettelbach.
The duo is accused of conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute over 100 kilograms of pot since at least Summer 2012 until June 26, 2013. Bell allegedly conspired to deal in 50 kilograms or more.
Both defendants face stiff penalties if convicted, with sentences determined by the court based on various factors such as prior records and roles in the offense.
The DEA led the investigation that led to the charges, and Assistant United States Attorney Samuel A. Yannucci is handling the prosecution.
Lilley and Bell are not alone; many others have faced similar charges for their part in the vast marijuana trade, highlighting the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking across the nation.
