ALBUQUERQUE – A brutal beating in Ojo Amarillo has landed Kyle Kee, 44, behind bars after he admitted to intentionally inflicting serious harm on another man. The attack, occurring on May 6, 2025, left the victim with permanent and disfiguring injuries, according to federal court documents.
Kee, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, unleashed a fistful of violence, delivering blows that shattered the victim’s face. Medical reports detail a horrific catalogue of damage: an orbital floor fracture, multiple nasal bone fractures, and lasting facial disfigurement. This wasn’t a bar brawl; it was a calculated assault with devastating consequences.
The defendant pleaded guilty to one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. While the plea avoids a trial, it doesn’t lessen the severity of the crime. Federal prosecutors are seeking a substantial sentence, and Kee now faces up to 10 years in a federal prison. Justice will be served, but it won’t undo the damage done.
“This case highlights the commitment of the Department of Justice to prosecuting violent offenders and ensuring that those who inflict harm on others are held accountable,” stated U.S. Attorney Ryan Ellison. The investigation, spearheaded by the Farmington Resident Agency of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albuquerque Field Office, relied heavily on collaboration with the Navajo Police Department and the Navajo Department of Criminal Investigations.
Even after serving his prison sentence, Kee won’t be a free man. Upon release, he’ll be shackled with up to three years of supervised release, a period where his movements and activities will be closely monitored. Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Jordan is handling the prosecution, determined to secure a sentence that reflects the gravity of the offense.
The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and report on the sentencing hearing. This attack serves as a grim reminder of the violence that continues to plague communities, even in the shadow of the mountains. It’s a story of broken bones, shattered lives, and a man facing the consequences of his brutal actions.
