Michael Lee Sapp, Child Pornography Production, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – A chilling sentence has been meted out to MICHAEL LEE SAPP, 43, who was today sentenced by Chief United States District Judge Joe Heaton to serve a staggering 280 months in federal prison for producing and downloading child pornography.

According to court records and statements made in court, an undercover Edmond Police Department detective downloaded child pornography from Sapp’s computer in February 2016. During a subsequent search warrant executed at Sapp’s apartment on June 30, 2016, officers uncovered tens of thousands of images and videos depicting prepubescent girls, children in bondage, and sex acts involving animals with children.

Among the grim discoveries was evidence that Sapp himself had produced child pornography. These explicit images showed him engaged in sexual acts with a young girl, and he later annotated them with lewd commentary. Additionally, officers found girls’ panties and photographs of young girls, which appeared to have been taken surreptitiously at his apartment complex and local pool.

Sapp was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 17, 2016, and entered a guilty plea on October 18, 2016. Upon completing his sentence, Sapp will be registered as a sex offender and placed under lifelong supervision by the United States Probation Office.

This harrowing case stems from an investigation led by the Edmond Police Department and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Hale, Project Safe Childhood Coordinator.

United States Attorney Mark A. Yancey announced the sentence, underscoring the severity of Sapp’s crimes against children.
