Oklahoma Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Meth, Fentanyl, Firearms Stash
A 32-year-old Oklahoma man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking operation in rural Arkansas. Allen Ray Thompson, a native of Lawton, Oklahoma, was handed down the 300-month sentence by U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks in the Western District of Arkansas.
Thompson’s sentence also includes a $2,000 fine and a five-year term of supervised release to follow his imprisonment. The sentencing hearing was held in the U.S. District Court in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on March 22.
The case against Thompson began on August 3, 2023, when he was pulled over by the Arkansas State Police in rural Boone County, Arkansas, for failure to display a proper vehicle tag. During the traffic stop, a narcotics-detecting canine alerted on the vehicle, prompting a search that revealed 4,934.5 grams of methamphetamine, 1,988 fentanyl pills, and five firearms, one of which was stolen.
Thompson, a previously convicted felon, was not permitted to possess a firearm. A later search of Thompson’s telephone text messages revealed that he was delivering the controlled substances to customers in the Harrison area who had previously paid him through an internet-based, peer-to-peer money transfer platform.
The investigation into Thompson’s operation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the State of Arkansas 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, and the Arkansas State Police as part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation. The OCDETF program identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest-level criminal organizations that threaten the United States using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon Carter prosecuted the case, which is part of a larger effort to take down organized crime groups in the region. The case against Thompson is a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking and the importance of law enforcement efforts to disrupt these operations.
The sentencing of Allen Ray Thompson marks the latest development in a long-running investigation into methamphetamine and fentanyl trafficking in the Western District of Arkansas. The case against Thompson is a significant blow to the operation, and law enforcement officials are urging the public to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activity.
