Omaha Dad Jailed for 360 Months over Child Pornography

Omaha’s Daron J. Brown, 34, has been sentenced to 360 months’ imprisonment for producing child pornography, marking a chilling chapter in the city’s criminal narrative.

The verdict came down on July 23, 2025, as United States District Judge Brian C. Buescher handed down the sentence. The federal system offers no parole for Brown, who will also serve a lifetime term of supervised release upon his release from prison.

The case began to unravel on October 29, 2023, when a school social worker reported concerns about the relationship between a minor victim and an adult male to a school resource officer. Brown was identified as the suspect after contacting the minor via Facebook, posing as a younger man. His past as a registered sex offender, stemming from a 2018 conviction for Criminal Attempt, First Degree Sexual Assault in Douglas County District Court, raised red flags.

Upon investigation, law enforcement seized Brown’s cell phone and another given to the minor victim. They discovered a trove of explicit content, including images and videos depicting Brown and the minor in sexually explicit conduct. Several screenshots revealed sexually explicit images of the minor taken during a Facetime call with Brown. Brown was aware that the minor was under 18 years of age.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative launched in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. United States Attorney’s Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section lead this national effort. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation into Brown’s actions.
