Omaha Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Reoffense

Crime journalist’s grimy take: Omaha man Lucas J. Lacy, 40, has been sentenced for a stunning third offense related to child pornography. The federal court in Omaha handed down a 10-year sentence on August 20, 2025, following his conviction for Accessing with Intent to View Visual Depictions of Minors Engaging in Sexually Explicit Conduct. There is no parole in the federal system, and Lacy’s supervised release term will commence upon his release from prison, which will last an additional five years.

Lacy’s criminal history is a stark reminder of the persistent nature of this offense. He previously faced charges related to child pornography on February 2, 2009, when he was sentenced in the District of Nebraska for Receipt and Distribution of Child Pornography. This conviction resulted in a 60-month prison term and 5 years of supervised release. On July 16, 2018, Lacy’s pattern of reoffense continued with another sentencing in the District of Nebraska for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, resulting in an 18-month imprisonment term and a further 10 years of supervised release.

The current charges against Lacy arose on November 22, 2021, when the United States Probation Office conducted a search of his Omaha residence. The search led to the recovery of two unauthorized cellphones, one of which contained at least one image of child pornography. Analysis of the phone further revealed at least 16 internet search terms indicative of child pornography.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project leverages federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet. Investigating this case was the Omaha FBI’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, a dedicated group committed to eradicating such crimes from our communities.
