Columbia, SC – Brothers Abrian Dayquan Sabb, 26, and Darius Bernard Sabb, 23, faced federal justice following their roles in a shooting incident at The Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Abrian Sabb was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for his actions, while Darius Sabb received three years’ probation.
Evidence revealed that on April 10, 2019, Abrian Sabb entered the hospital armed with a loaded AR-15 rifle and opened fire. A nurse suffered serious injuries. The day prior, Abrian Sabb had asked his brother to purchase a new firearm after his own was seized following a domestic dispute. Darius Sabb falsified an ATF form, taking the blame for the purchase.
Upon discovering his lie, Darius Sabb hid the weapon but was unable to prevent its retrieval by Abrian Sabb. The following day, at the hospital, the weapon was used in the shooting. United States District Judge Mary Geiger Lewis handed down the sentences, noting that parole is not an option in the federal system.
The ATF and Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime. Assistant United States Attorney Stacey D. Haynes prosecuted the case.
State charges against Abrian Sabb for the shooting are pending in Orangeburg County, with his innocence preserved unless proven guilty.
