Jason Lynn Gay, a 40-year-old Orlando man, is facing serious federal charges after allegedly threatening to kill the President of the United States and an FBI agent.
According to court documents, Gay mailed a threatening communication to the U.S. Courthouse in Orlando, in which he threatened to assault and murder an FBI agent and take the life of and inflict bodily harm upon the President.
The indictment also alleges that Gay threatened to “blow up” the federal courthouse in the same communication.
Gay was arraigned in federal court on an indictment charging him with one count of threatening a federal official, one count of making threats against the President of the United States, and one count of mailing a threatening communication.
“If convicted on all counts, Gay faces up to 25 years in prison,” said U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley, III in a statement.
The case was investigated by the United States Secret Service and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew C. Searle.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed a violation of the federal criminal laws, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
