ORLANDO, FL – Matthew Anthony Inman, 40, of Orlando, Florida, will spend the next two decades of his life behind bars after being sentenced to the statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison. U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger handed down the sentence today for the vile crime of transportation of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
According to court documents, Inman’s depravity unfolded between August and October of 2024. He actively received, downloaded, and hoarded videos depicting the horrific sexual abuse of young boys – videos featuring adult males committing unspeakable acts. The FBI investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior, culminating in a calculated attempt to solicit further abuse.
In October 2024, Inman traveled to Las Vegas and initiated contact with an undercover law enforcement officer posing as the father of a 9-year-old boy. Using an encrypted messaging service in a transparent effort to evade detection, Inman laid bare his predatory desires. He explicitly stated his intent to sodomize the fictitious child, brazenly requesting photographs and videos. In return for this depraved exchange, Inman sent seven CSAM videos to the officer, casually adding, “hope you like” and boasting that he possessed “lots of videos if you want to watch.”
Federal agents quickly identified Inman as the user of the encrypted messaging service and obtained a search warrant for his electronic devices and Orlando residence. But Inman wasn’t going down without a fight. As authorities executed the warrant, he frantically attempted to delete evidence from his phone and made a pathetic attempt to hide in the attic of his home – a futile gesture that couldn’t conceal his monstrous actions.
The case was meticulously investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Richard Varadan. This conviction is a direct result of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice dedicated to dismantling the networks that enable child sexual exploitation and bringing predators like Inman to justice.
Project Safe Childhood marshals resources from federal, state, and local agencies to locate, apprehend, and prosecute those who prey on children.
