Daniel LaRock, a 21-year-old from Oswego, New York, was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison yesterday for possession of child pornography. This follows his conviction and subsequent violation of probation less than two years ago.
In June 2024, LaRock pleaded guilty to promoting the sexual performance by a child in Oswego County Court, earning him 10 years’ probation. However, he failed to comply with this sentence by possessing and distributing explicit material on social media platforms, including videos depicting young children engaged in sex acts with adults.
United States District Judge Anthony J. Brindisi also imposed a post-imprisonment term of supervised release of 15 years, ordered LaRock to pay $8,000 in restitution to victims, and required him to forfeit the device used for his offenses.
Acting United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III emphasized that LaRock’s previous probation sentence was “incredibly lenient,” and noted the necessity of continued efforts to charge and seek justice for those who exploit children online. Special Agent in Charge Erin Keegan of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) highlighted LaRock’s disregard for vulnerable populations, underscoring the severity of his crimes.
This case was investigated by HSI with assistance from the New York State Police and is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation. Assistant United States Attorney Michael D. Gadarian is prosecuting this case.
