Abraham Reinhardt, Oxymorphone Trafficking, New York 2012

BUFFALO, NY – In a shocking case of narcotics trafficking, Abraham Reinhardt, a 24-year-old former pharmacy student, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for his role in selling Oxymorphone pills and other illicit substances.

Reinhardt, a resident of Buffalo, was arrested in November 2012 in the parking lot of the Home Depot in Batavia, NY, where he was about to sell 80 Opana (Oxymorphone) tablets, a quantity of marijuana, and hallucinogenic mushrooms. The arrest was the culmination of a lengthy investigation by Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Erie County Sheriff’s Department.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, who handled the case, Reinhardt was also operating an ice cream truck in Cheektowaga, NY, during the summer months, and was selling hallucinogenic mushrooms and marijuana from the truck.

The investigation revealed that Reinhardt had ordered the Opana pills through Silkroad.com, an online black market website that has since been shut down.

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. praised the efforts of the investigators, saying that the sentencing is a testament to their hard work and dedication to combating narcotics trafficking in the region.

Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny handed down the sentence, which is the culmination of a case that highlights the dangers of online narcotics trafficking and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat it.

Reinhardt’s case serves as a warning to others who engage in narcotics trafficking, and underscores the severe consequences of getting caught.
