Pamela Bullington, 28, of Cowpens, South Carolina, Has Been Sentenced for Theft of Government Funds.
Grimy Times can now confirm that a South Carolina woman, Pamela Bullington, has been sentenced to probation and to pay restitution of $12,552.50 for Theft of Government Funds, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 641. This shocking revelation was made public by United States Attorney Beth Drake.
According to court documents, Pamela Bullington used her mother’s ATM card to withdraw her deceased mother’s veteran benefits. The Office of Veterans Affairs had not been informed of the death of Bullington’s mother, and therefore continued to deposit VA benefits into the account.
Evidence presented at the change of plea hearing established that Bullington admitted to knowing these funds were from the VA. Furthermore, Bullington also allowed another person to use the ATM card to make withdrawals from her deceased mother’s account.
The case was investigated by agents of the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General. Assistant United States Attorney Jamie Lea Schoen of the Greenville office prosecuted the case.
United States District Judge Bruce H. Hendricks of Charleston handed down the sentence. Bullington’s actions have left many in the community reeling, wondering how someone could commit such a brazen crime.
Pamela Bullington’s sentence serves as a reminder that theft of government funds will not be tolerated. We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
