Muskogee, OK – A federal jury in Muskogee has convicted a local resident of kidnapping, carjacking, robbery, and firearm offenses.
Patrick Wayne McHenry, 29, was found guilty of Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping, Kidnapping, Carjacking, Robbery in Indian Country, and the Carry/Use of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence following a three-day trial.
The charges stem from a series of violent incidents that occurred in Muskogee and Braggs, Oklahoma, in September 2021. McHenry allegedly kidnapped and assaulted a victim, B.N., binding them with rope and tape before transporting them to a shed in Braggs. The victim managed to escape and run to a neighboring house for help.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence that McHenry also robbed and carjacked another victim, C.J., at a motel in Muskogee on September 12, 2021, while possessing a sawed-off shotgun.
The guilty verdicts were the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office, and Muskogee Police Department.
The case was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma due to the involvement of a federally recognized Indian tribe and the use of a cell phone and the internet to facilitate the kidnapping.
McHenry was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal pending sentencing, which will be scheduled following completion of a presentence report. The Honorable Ronald A. White presided over the trial.
Assistant United States Attorneys Erin Cornell and Casey Richmond represented the United States in the case.
