Tampa, Florida – A shocking indictment has been returned against Sarasota doctor Pete Supan, charging him with coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and production of child sex abuse material, according to United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg.
Pete Supan, 35, of Bradenton, faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison if convicted on all counts.
According to the indictment, Supan coerced and enticed an individual under the age of 18 to engage in sexual activity.
He also persuaded, induced, enticed, or coerced the minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of such conduct.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. It will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney Derry.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the government to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Pete Supan is currently facing charges of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and production of child sex abuse material.
