Keshena Man Indicted for Methamphetamine Trafficking and Firearms Offenses

A federal grand jury has indicted Peter D. Boyd, 36, of Keshena, Wisconsin, for controlled substance and firearms offenses on the Menominee Indian Reservation.

According to the indictment, Boyd possessed 50 grams or more of a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine on October 15, 2022. He is also accused of possessing a firearm in furtherance of the intended distribution of the methamphetamine.

The indictment charges Boyd with two counts: Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(1)(B)) and Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of Drug Trafficking (18 U.S.C. § 924(c)).

If convicted, Boyd faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 5 years for the first count and a mandatory minimum consecutive sentence of 5 years for the second count. He may also face a period of supervised release, possible fines, and a special assessment for each count.

The case was investigated by the Menominee Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier.

An indictment is only a charge and not evidence of guilt. Peter D. Boyd is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Boyd is currently facing charges related to methamphetamine trafficking and firearms offenses on the Menominee Indian Reservation. The outcome of the case is pending.
