FAIRHAVEN MAN HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR DISTRIBTUTING METHAMPHETAMINE
A Fairhaven man’s reckless decision to distribute methamphetamine has led to a 5-year prison sentence. Peter Lobo, 54, made the mistake in late 2016 when he sold a half-pound sample of the potent drug to an undercover agent posing as a Maine methamphetamine dealer.
The transaction took place on Dec. 12, 2016, with the agent paying Lobo $4,000 for the half-pound. Two days later, Lobo sold an additional four pounds of methamphetamine to the agent, which was later analyzed to contain 1,777 grams of 99% pure d-methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as ‘Ice.’
On July 2017, Lobo pleaded guilty to one count of distributing methamphetamine. U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper handed down the sentence, ordering Lobo to serve 5 years in prison and 3 years of supervised release.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Field Division, with Acting United States Attorney William D. Weinreb and Assistant U.S. Attorney Theodore B. Heinrich of Weinreb’s Narcotics and Money Laundering Unit working closely on the case.
Justice has been served in this case, and the people of Massachusetts can rest a little easier knowing that those responsible for distributing deadly drugs will face the consequences. Peter Lobo’s actions put countless lives at risk, and it’s only right that he pays the price.
As a society, we must remain vigilant in our pursuit of those who seek to harm others through their actions. By working together, we can create a safer, more just community for everyone.
The case serves as a reminder that the distribution of methamphetamine has severe consequences and will not be tolerated. We urge anyone with information about such activities to come forward and assist law enforcement in their efforts to keep our communities safe.
The full weight of the law will be brought to bear on those who choose to engage in this destructive behavior. We will continue to work tirelessly to dismantle the networks and bring those responsible to justice.
The public is encouraged to report any information regarding suspicious activity to the authorities. Together, we can build a safer, more secure future for ourselves and future generations.
